Hi, and welcome to our family foodie blog!

I’m Amy, the cook/author and photographer behind Chew Out Loud.

Amy Cooking

I’m wife to the smartest guy I know, who also happens to be a willing partner in foodie-crime.  Hubby is the tech-master, photography advisor, and very discriminating taste tester behind this blog.

Amy and Hubby

Hubby and I both grew up in L.A.  We were both raised in families where food was the source of togetherness and celebration.  My folks regularly cooked up dish after dish as their way of showing love.  Rather than using recipes, they relied instead on the experience passed down to them.  Hubby’s grandfather was the head chef of a prominent restaurant in downtown.  At home, his grandfather cooked seven-course meals out of locally fresh ingredients for family dinners.  Every. Single. Night.  (Crazy, right?)

Needless to say, we are a couple that’s besotted by all things gastronomic.

When I’m not dredged in flour or sampling chocolate off my spatula, I am:

*  A dog-lover, book-inhaler, addicted runner, and God’s girl.
*  Proud mommy of three very busy, silly, and rambunctious boys.  My world is all blue.  And loud.  And wild.
Teacher on lengthy sabbatical.  My days are currently filled with volunteer work and chasing after said boys.
*  Hunter of as many Zagat-worthy eats as possible, for every city we travel to.  Our kids beg for McD’s.

Gourmet Club

Cooking/baking is my hobby-slash-therapy.  I don’t have super stand-out talents; I wish I could sing like Celine and sew like Martha.  But one thing I can do is create yummy eats 🙂  My kids won’t be receiving handmade scrapbooks (do Photo Books count??)  But I hope I’m passing down precious memories made in our kitchen and around the table.

The recipes you’ll find at Chew Out Loud are either inspired with proper credit given, or are homegrown recipes and certified yummy by foodie family and friends.  We often provide wine pairing suggestions, as my man is also an avid wine connoisseur.

All photos are original and copyrighted property of Chew Out Loud.  We love it when you like what you see –  if you want to share our photos or recipes, please provide a clear link back to Chew Out Loud.   Thank you 🙂

Thanks for coming over to our little space on the interweb.  You’re always welcome to grab a cup of coffee and hang with us for awhile.  We’d love to hear from you.  Happy looking, cooking, and chewing!

P.S.  This blog is dedicated to the Three Little Monkeys.  You know who you are.

What a cute family photo! Thanks for liking my post so that I could discover your blog. My mouth fell open at the first image that greeted me when I came over here (that incredible chocolate kahlua cake) and then it just kept getting better and better (mahi mahi, a burger with a fried egg – fried eggs make everything delicious!). I was just saying to my best friend that I want to roast garlic and lo and behold, you also have a post on that too. I can’t wait to go through all the recipes on your blog and drool over your gorgeous photos.

  11. Gabi August 9, 2012 at 9:15 pm #

Your photographs make me want to reach through the internet and take a bite out of that chocolate cake!!!!! Being an avid baker myself, I will be baking this coming weekend…..and attempting to make the cake look as good as yours! Your photography rocks!!! Amazing pics. Fantastic work!!!! I can’t wait to read what’s coming next!!!

Isn’t it grand that God allows us to enjoy cooking so much that we enjoy not only creating it but sharing it with friends and family and the rest of the world?!!!!! As Solomon said in Ecclesiastes, “I decided there is nothing better than to enjoy food and drink and to find satisfaction in work. Then I realized that these pleasures are from the hand of God, for who can eat or enjoy anything apart from him?”

    Be blessed! Gabi
